Stay in your home for longer with an Aging-in-Place Consultation.
This assessment can also help you feel more confident getting around your home and can make day to day tasks a little easier. We really think about your long-term needs TOGETHER by exploring options that will make you safer and happier at home now and in the years to come.
We really align our guidance and services to anything you need to age-in-place. We off all the services listed below and can offer more through this Aging-in-Place Consultation.
- Home Assessment : We go through your home TOGETHER to determine your specific needs based on your unique environment and what you want to do safely and more easily in your home. We can do this lots of ways- over the phone, on a video call, or even in-person if you are in the Denver or Lakewood, Colorado area.
- Home Modification Recommendations: Home modifications refers to making some changes to your home that will really impact your well-being, confidence, and safety. People tend to think of home modifications as a big undertaking, and while they can be in some circumstances, they can also be really small adjustments that make a big difference. For example, an easy home modification may be lowering the bar in your clothing closet or adding another light somewhere.
- Smart Home and Tech Recommendations: We can explore what technology you are comfortable using in your home for your safety, well-being, and just to make things easier. We can talk about the benefits and considerations for each piece of technology, including low-tech options that aren’t super complicated. There’s things like smart blinds, so you don’t have to try to squeeze behind the couch to get to them, robotic vacuums, and so many more things. Smart home options are constantly changing, so it can be really helpful to explore what is out there with someone to see if there is something out there that can make life a little easier for you.
We always start with a free initial consultation to get to know you better and understand what you want. You can reach Corrin at corring@aginguniquely.com or 719-401-1201 to learn more and schedule your free initial consultation.
Are you trying to make the very difficult decision about if you want to stay in your home or explore other options and places to live and feel overwhelmed?
We are here to help. As an occupational therapist, I have worked TOGETHER with many people to guide them in choosing an option that works well for them. We discuss the important and intentional questions, then dive into the logistics of how to make the plan, then start following through on that plan.
Here is just a sample of the questions we go through TOGETHER to make a plan to age uniquely:
- What is most important to you? Is it having a community, being safe, living near family, being financially stable throughout retirement, or something else?
- How can different needs and priorities be creatively balanced to allow you to age in your own way?
- What else do you need to know to make a decision?
- Where can you go to get more information to make informed decisions confidently?
- What is the action plan?
- What is the first step, and then the next small and feasible steps to take after that?
It’s really never too early to start pondering these questions and planning! Preparation can really pay off in the long run and give you a better change to age in your own way.
While it is really important to understand and get clear on what you want for yourself and what is feasible, we don’t only talk. We really make a step-by-step action place, and start going through the process TOGETHER. This might mean visiting other places TOGETHER to determine if the new place will meet your current and future needs and really talk through all the pros and cons of moving. We can also help find various moving companies, contractor services if needed for modifications, recommend additional equipment, or anything else you need to make a smooth transition into your new home.

What brings you joy in life?
Throughout life our preferences might change, our friend group changes, and we may even more away, go from working to retirement, or have changes to our body and mind. All these things might affect what you do in your leisure time and your hobbies.
Many people do not realize there is not only one way to partake in a hobby or activity. There are so many ways to change how a hobby or activity is done, use specialized equipment, or share the more challenging parts of an activity with someone else, so you can still enjoy the activity. All it takes is working together and some creative problem solving. There are also so many adaptive programs and organizations (skiing, scuba, etc.) that we can refer to as well if you are the adventurous type!
All throughout life we can also explore new activities, hobbies, and places. Sometimes we just need to think about what we enjoyed in the past, what we are doing now, and where we see ourself in the future to get the spark to start exploring a new activity that fits with our wants and brings us joy.
I must say that exploring leisure activities is commonly left out of traditional healthcare, unfortunately. But, it’s so important! Staying active physically and mentally and connecting with others is good for physical and mental health, and most importantly it can improve your quality of life!
We always start with a free initial consultation to get to know you better and how to help you enjoy your free time again. You can reach Corrin at corring@aginguniquely.com or 719-401-1201 to learn more and schedule your free initial consultation.
